Québec Foundation for Athletic Excellence

The Québec Foundation for Athletic Excellence provides financial support and backing for student athletes in their pursuit of excellence, and helps promote models in society.

Through its scholarship program in partnership with the Foundation, Saputo supports 17 athletes from across Canada in a variety of sports.

Meaghan Benfeito, diving; Chloé Dufour-Lapointe, freestyle skiing; Maxime Dufour-Lapointe, freestyle skiing; Martine Dugrenier, wrestling; Alexandre Dupont, track and field (wheelchair); Dasha Gaïazova, cross-country skiing; Whitney Genoway, water-polo; Martin Gilbert, track cycling; Bryson Hunt, gymnastics; Kimberley Hyacinthe, track and field; Kerry Kaukinen, water-polo; Audrey Lemieux, road cycling; Valérie Maltais, short-track speedskating; Bryan Milonja, trampoline; Mickaël Poulin, basketball (wheelchair); Isabelle Rampling, synchronized swimming; Frazer Will, judo.

Saputo renewed its partnership with the Foundation in 2005. This new agreement represents a commitment of $425,000 over 5 years, with more than 70% going directly to the athletes. The balance goes to support the Foundation.

Mardis cyclistes

Les Mardis cyclists (Tueday bicycle races) have become a weekly event in Lachine for all cycling enthusiasts in the greater Montréal area. With its unique 1.61 km circuit featuring 4 90-degree turns, les Mardis cyclistes bring elite cyclists from Québec and across Canada to Lachine. The organization benefits from several international races in Québec to bring international calibre racers.

Saputo is the official sponsor of les Mardis cyclistes de Lachine through to 2008. Saputo also donates two trophies: the Coupe des jeunes Lait’s go for under 17 year-olds and the Coupe Pro Élite Saputo for 18 to 20 year-olds.
